Should I waterproof the entire bathroom?

Ideally yes. While not critical, we would suggest that waterproofing should be fitted to the entire bathroom area, as steam will most likely cover every wall. The rest of the bathroom area will not be subject to the same volume of water as the shower area, but over time, water seepage may become an issue.
