It’s a bespoke shower area, it is a room or part of a room that is designed for washing with a walk in shower, waterproofed surfaces and drainage system.
There is no size or a shape limitation; the beauty of a wetroom is that it can be installed into any size bathroom. Thanks to the open plan feel of a wetroom and the minimal lines of a contemporary glass shower screen, even the smallest space can be transformed into a stunning wetroom.
They have the possibility to leak (installer competence) they are more expensive, and also more time consuming to fit. If not done properly you can have a lot of problems.
Yes, but no more than any other shower area.
Yes, we suggest using a coating of our anti slip paint if you have smooth tiles or use anti slip tiles on the floor of your wet room. That way it will not be slippery. And there is no hazard or risk of anyone slipping.
Depends on the products you want to use and the space you have in the floor. But usually yes its all one level, you just walk straight in then straight back out, you don’t have to climb over anything to step into anything to use the shower.
It means that water can permeate through the material. (It allows water to pass through it)
Yes. You wouldn’t get it designed; the majority of our drains can be used for free placement.
Flow rates are the litres per second or minute that a channel can handle. Water will fill up the bathroom, you need to makes sure it goes away, without leaving access.
Size the system. – How many litres are coming in?
The channel must have a slightly higher flow rate than needed, to comply with as the drain slowly blocks.
It’s the full shower drain, the gully is a long channel to collect the water, which drains into the trap, which protects from foul smells. Then it goes into the drainage.
Nominal is a name for the size of the visible length of the product, for example, the 900mm Tegel is called nominal and the whole 900mm of the channel is visible. The visible length is nominal.
They can, there are many different types of stainless steel, some are more corrosion resistant that others.
No, stainless steel regardless is not resistant to chlorine!
A linear drain is a drain, which is straight and long and rectangular shape.
We are not in a position to give these out at this moment in time.
No, we currently do not have CAD drawings.
A small drain set in a certain position usually central or in a corner.
A shower channel is a narrow drainage gulley, usually set at the back wall of the shower area so that the floor can be sloped towards it.
Cementitious powder tile adhesive (not pre mixed)
A floor gradient is a slope in the floor; anything that slopes has a gradient.
Depends on the drain but we have found about 1.5% (1:80) is adequate
Eforms are preformed gradient boards that are covered with a waterproof coating. They are produced so that they can be laid down onto an unfinished floor, to create a consistent gradient for the water to flow down. There are 5 different models available, and when combined, they can create a good solution for almost every wetroom area regardless of the drains used.
There are a few different companies that produce flush plates that are compatible with Tece frames and cisterns. 1 of which is CEA Design.
There are various certifications available for all Tece products. These are also available on request. These include WRAS Approvals, Breeam Compliance, and BS/EN certifications.
There are a huge range of toilet pans that are compatible with Tece frames, from various manufactures. However, the mounting points on the Tece frame need to be considered when purchasing the toilet pan. Frame specification documents can be supplied on request. There are 2 fixing point widths on all Tece frames. These are 180mm and 230mm. Between these 2 different fixing dimensions, these cover 99.5% off all pans produced by manufacturers. 85% of which would fit onto the standard 180mm fixing points
Yes, All Tece products come with water efficiency certifications. They are also designed and developed with a Dual flush function giving you the choice of a short or long flush. This is built into all Tece Cisterns.
There are no specific cleaning products that are required for cleaning Tece Flush Plates. The material of the flush plate needs to be considered though, when choosing the correct cleaning product. For instance, look to use Glass cleaner on the glass face plates, plastic cleaner for plastic plates and so on.
There are many benefits to using the Tece product range. For instance, the Tece frames are stronger, less likely to twist and lighter than pretty much all competitors equivilents.
The cisterns are really user/installer friendly, and water release and fill valves can be removed and replaced easily.
The water fill valve settings can easily be changed, controlling the amount of water required to fill the cistern.
The water release valve has 4 standard water release settings meaning that the amount of water being released is easily changed.
Not only that, but there are water throttle control rings that can be fitted into the bottom of the cistern, controlling the force in which the water is pushed around the pan, ensuring you are getting the perfect clean on every flush.
All Tece flush plates will fit onto all Tece cisterns and frames, along with many competitors cisterns and frames. There is a wide range of plates available, in an equally large choice of colours and finishes.
We can also supply custom colour finishes on our Tece Square Metal range, on request
A Frame is a means of being able to install a Wall hung toilet pan and other such related products, into a bathroom. This in turn allows for the flushing of the pan in situ.
Within the frame is a cistern and all other connecting pipes between the cistern and pan. The frame is installed within a wall, allowing for wall hung pans to be connected to and supported by it. The cistern within the frame is connected directly to the mains water. The cisterns water outlet is connected to the pans water inlet. Control rods are installed into the front or top of the cisterns splash guard allowing for the actuation of the water release valve. Decorative flush plates are fitted in front or on top of these rods, making for a high-end finish.
Using a frame rather than a conventional close coupled pan and cistern offers a wide range of advantages.
- Very high end minimalist finish
- No section of pan is touching floor allowing the pan and floor to be cleaned more efficiently
- With frame internal of walls means no cleaning of a cistern which would be required for a close coupled alternative
- With the frame being fitted into the wall, it creates a real sense of space in the bathroom
- All additional pipework required is also fitted within the supporting wall, meaning nothing but the pan and flush plate can be seen from within the bathroom.
- There is a very large range of wall hung pans available on the market ranging from between £100.00 to £350.00, meaning there is lots of choice.
- Reduced noise from the fill and release of water, to and from the cistern due to being situated within the wall
The throttle controls are supplied as an extra, and come in a pack of 8 different coloured products. Each of the 8 different throttle controls have different internal diameters, meaning that they would either increase or decrease the force in which water is expelled from the cistern into the pan. The internal diameter ranges from ⌀28mm up to ⌀46mm.
The water release controller has 4 different preset’s on the rear of the product, that can change the amount of water being released out of the cistern into the pan. There is a 5th preset that the water release valve can be tricked into releasing, which will not damage the product. The 4 standard presets are 4.5 litres, 6 litres, 7.5 litres and 9 litres, with the additional 3.3 litres that can be achieved also.
Tanking is a waterproof barrier that stops water from soaking through, into the building or leaking anywhere other than its required location.

It’s a bespoke shower area, it is a room or part of a room that is designed for washing with a walk in shower, waterproofed surfaces and drainage system.
There are 3 parts to a wetroom, to create a wetroom you need:
- A room
- A shower so the water comes out
- A hole in the floor for water to leave again and a sloped floor to get the water to the hole.
We sell the hole in the floor, the slope and tanking to make sure that the water doesn’t go anywhere else but the hole.
There is a lot of different ways to do it; depending on your building, the size and shape you are working with, product selection and many other variables.
Using screens/barriers to stop the water.
It’s not the drains intended use but theoretically, they could be used on a driveway, but you will need to keep it clean.
There is no size or a shape limitation; the beauty of a wetroom is that it can be installed into any size bathroom. Thanks to the open plan feel of a wetroom and the minimal lines of a contemporary glass shower screen, even the smallest space can be transformed into a stunning wetroom.
It depends on the size of your wetroom, the amount of work involved and the products you chose to use as prices differ.
No, if you need to get to the trap for any reason such as to clean it, then the grating simply lifts out giving you easy access to the trap.
The benefits are that it looks better than a traditional shower, you can have any size or shape you want, and there is floor level access, minimum maintenance, and stylish, modern design. You can also get drains, which are nearly invisible. Wetroom drains can move more water than a standard shower drain. A wetroom can also increase property value. Level access wet rooms provide a family friendly showering space with no trip hazards.
They have the possibility to leak (installer competence) they are more expensive, and also more time consuming to fit. If not done properly you can have a lot of problems.
Yes, but no more than any other shower area.
Stop using immediately, find the source of the leak and fix as soon as possible.
Yes, we suggest using a coating of our anti slip paint if you have smooth tiles or use anti slip tiles on the floor of your wet room. That way it will not be slippery. And there is no hazard or risk of anyone slipping.
We supply drains with offset outlets, so the joists can be avoided.
It is purely an aesthetic choice; we have drains that will fit any size and type of tile.
Yes. You should always have a complete impenetrable barrier beneath the floor finish so that water cannot leak from anywhere.
Down to installer experience the more experienced the installer the quicker they will be able to install the wetroom, can be fully installed within 2 days.
No, but any wall or screen or barrier will restrict the area in which water can get to.
Depends on the installation.
Only when you don’t have the space to let water run down hill and need to push it back up hill or when you do not have much water pressure coming into the house.
Depends on the products you want to use and the space you have in the floor. But usually yes its all one level, you just walk straight in then straight back out, you don’t have to climb over anything to step into anything to use the shower.
Elite will go into all timber floors.
Nominal is a name for the size of the visible length of the product, for example, the 900mm Tegel is called nominal and the whole 900mm of the channel is visible. The visible length is nominal.
Chassis – collects water.
Grate – look pretty.
Trap – stop bad smells coming up from sewers.
Not one whole product so it’s easier to get into and easier to clean.
No, stainless steel regardless is not resistant to chlorine!
Yes, they have grates that lift out to give easy access to the trap so very easy to clean
We are not in a position to give these out at this moment in time.
No, we currently do not have CAD drawings.
Yes you can, if you do cut the trap down you will have to use a different syphon inside the trap. 35mm & 30mm syphon breaches building regulations.
Cementitious powder tile adhesive (not pre mixed)
Cementitious powder tile adhesive (not pre mixed)
6 – 8mm at thin end going to 22mm at the thick end. Except model B which is 22 – 30mm.
Depends on the drain but we have found about 1.5% (1:80) is adequate
Yes if beneath the eforms they won’t cause any damage but the eform is insulating by its nature, so heat won’t get through.
No we only sell the products; you will have to get someone to install them. We do have installation instructions to help you out if they are needed.
Yes we have a great technical team all ready and waiting to help you as much as possible.
There is only one adhesive that we would recommend when fitting gradient boards or waterproofing, and that is Cementitious powder tile adhesive (Not pre Mixed). Ideally flexible tile adhesive to ensure that it will flex with any floor movement.
Yes, while eforms are waterproofed, it is highly recommended that additional waterproofing is applied as there would be cracks between the eforms if more than one is used when creating the wetroom. Water could also go around the eforms as they have no membrane that would travel up the wall or onto adjoining products.
All Tece Flush Plates are compatible with all Tece cisterns and frames. As opposed to competitor frames that require specific plates dependant on the models.
The Exception to this is any of our electronic plates, i.e. Planus electronic as this will not fit onto the slimline cistern due to the motor not fitting into the cistern itself. This is because there is not enough depth in the cistern to accommodate it.
A company called Toto uses a frame produced by Tece and this will accommodate the entire Tece Flush plate range. However, there are no competitor frames or cisterns (Excepting Toto) that will accommodate the Tece Frame.
There are a few different companies that produce flush plates that are compatible with Tece frames and cisterns. 1 of which is CEA Design.
There is a full range of spares available for Tece cisterns and Frames. This means if a product is faulty, it can be repaired easily without meaning having to replace the entire cistern and/or frame
Providing the flush plates are mounted using the correct bracket, Tece flush plates simply just clip in and out of location. The flush plates are held firmly in situ and are not likely to fall out unless the mounting bracket is damaged or faulty. This makes the products very easy to remove, clean and refit, without the need for an installer. Tece flush plates do not need to be removed to be cleaned, but they can be if required.
Yes, Tece cisterns are compatible with rimless toilets.
The Tece cisterns are manufactured to EN14055 which is an international standard, and Tece units fulfil this standard. If water is splashing out of the pan, this is most likely a manufacturing problem with the pan.
Yes, Tece have developed a set of throttle controls that can be fitted into the water outlet locator cage in the bottom of the cistern. There is also a water volume outlet controller switch on the rear of the water outlet module.
It is very important to use waterproof tanking. Waterproofing is critical to ensuring a leak free waterproof wetroom enclosure. In order to ensure a waterproof wetroom, tanking must be fitted prior to tiling.
There are many different adhesives that could be used, but we would advise (based on the information supplied by the manufacturer), a cementitious powder adhesive (not Pre Mixed), such as flexible tile adhesive. This can be used on all Waterproofing membranes that we supply.
When fitting Aquaguard, fit the drain in its required location. Butt the eforms up to the drain leaving a 5mm gap between the flange of the drain and the beginning of the eform.
Make sure that the waterproof membrane is laid on top of the eform rather than underneath.
Lay down a thin but consistant layer of flexible tile adhesive and make sure it is smooth.
Fit the first run of Aquaguard, adjacent to the drain, spanning from left to right.
Make sure there are no bubbles underneath the waterproofing, otherwise it may make laying the floor tricky.
The Aquaguard should sit on the drains waterproof membrane and be held in place using more tile adhesive.
When fitting the next layer of Aquaguard, fit in the same fashion using tile adhesive and ensure that it overlaps the previously laid Aquaguard by approximately 25mm. Again, secure this to the previous layer using more tile adhesive.
Repeat above steps until wetroom area is completely covered.
Ideally yes. While not critical, we would suggest that waterproofing should be fitted to the entire bathroom area, as steam will most likely cover every wall. The rest of the bathroom area will not be subject to the same volume of water as the shower area, but over time, water seepage may become an issue.
Firstly, how much of the wetroom area do you want to waterproof? Just the shower area or the entire bathroom? To work out how much waterproofing you will need, work out the square meterage of the floor area and each wall that you wish to waterproof, and add them together allowing 10% extra for wastage. Allow a bit extra also to cover any overlaps if using Aquaguard.
Aquaseal is basically a waterproof paint which when set, completely seals the area its on. It can be applied in the same way that paint is applied to a wall. The only stipulation is that it is put on relatively thick, and the installer needs to consider paint brush marks, as if too deep, it may allow water to seep through the seal and onto the eform boards.
There is no better or worse solution out of the above 2. They both do exactly the same thing but are applied in different ways. The Aquaguard is effectively waterproof wallpaper, whereas the Aquaseal is a roll on waterproof paint. It all comes down to the installers preference as both work equally as well if installed correctly.
The internal corner piece is used at the base of a recessed wall such as a joining wall in a 2 or 3 wall shower area.
The external corner piece is used at the base of a protruding wall such as a dividing wall.
There is more jointing tape in the Aquaguard kit as this is a laid down sheet waterproofing and as such, may require more cuts and joints that will need sealing. With Aquaseal, it is a paint that will cover all areas without the need for cuts and so on.
